Win up to $1750!

On Thursday, February 16th, Northwest Christian School will be hosting the 9th annual NXNW High School Film Festival at the Harkins Norterra 14 theater in Phoenix, Arizona.  Participants will have their short films shown on the big screen as part of the program and they be competing for cash prizes.  Judging will be done by both those in attendance that evening as well as a panel of film industry professionals.

Three categories for submissions.  Students are able to submit short films in one or more of the following categories:

  1. Short form narrative.  This category may include any of the following:  narrative, historical, biographical, silent, or documentary.
  2. Animated.  This category may include any of the following:  stop motion (Legos, clay-mation, etc.), computer animation, or traditional hand-drawn animation.
  3. Music video.

Submission guidelines.  Eligible submissions include any short film produced during the 2022/2023 school year.  Students may submit multiple entries in a single category or entries in multiple categories.  Individual entries may not exceed five minutes in length.  Submissions may be made via video platforms (Youtube, Vimeo, etc.), digital video file sent via email ([email protected]), link via cloud-based storage, or on a portable drive delivered in person or sent via mail.  Finalists in each category will be determined by a panel of jurists assembled by festival directors.  Finalists will be asked to sign a media release.  Winners will be asked to complete IRS Form 990.

Judging and cash prizes.  During the event, festival attendees will be voting via their phones for their favorite submissions in each of the three categories of competition:  short film narrative films, animated films, and music videos.  In each category, first place will receive $750.00, second place will receive $500.00, and third place will receive $250.00.  In addition to the voting that takes place during the event, a panel of jurists comprised of industry professionals (Hollywood screenwriters, university film professors, directors of the Phoenix Film Festival, etc.) will choose a "best of show" winner from all of the films submitted in all categories.  This "best of show" winner will receive $1000.00 in addition to any other winnings.
