As we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., take a look at the 2021 Equity Through Access grantees. GiVErs awarded eight nonprofits grants totaling $63,300 for projects/programs that increase access and/or elevate the quality of life for communities of color. Take a few minutes to read a mid-year update on the organizations.

Landmark Training Development Company
Landmark Farmers Market · $5,000
With GiVE 365 grant funds, Landmark Training Development Company made updates to its farmers market and food pantry and continued to operate five days a week. Landmark also began advertising throughout Orange Mound through postcards and yard signs.
CHOICES
Increasing Midwifery Access in Memphis · $10,000
Through its GiVE 365 support, CHOICES formed a partnership with a consultant who is designing a childbirth education curriculum with guidance and input from CHOICES' birth team. The nonprofit will begin facilitating the course with patients in a group setting in spring 2022.
Memphis Library Foundation
English Classes in Public Parks and Other Community Spaces · $5,000
Memphis Library Foundation has hosted three tutoring sessions in parks, churches, and libraries throughout the city, made possible by your grant. Its volunteer tutors have received praise from learners for helping them build their confidence and skills needed to learn.

CodeCrew
$10,000
After two years of virtual programming, CodeCrew was able to host its annual Hour of Code in person. This event exposes youth and adults to computer science and coding. During CodeCrew's Winter Hour of Code, event participants experienced a range of STEM skills, from Sphero robots to actual coding to create apps. Events like the Winter Hour of Code inspire students to pursue careers in computer science.
Casaluz
Domestic Violence Equity for Survivors Through Access to Services (DV ESTAS) · $5,000
Casaluz hired a part-time victim advocate who helps find resources, provides emotional support, and offers accompaniment through criminal justice proceedings. With the additional staff, Casaluz has been able to support 48 clients since being awarded their grant.
Creative Aging
Enriching Seniors' Lives Through the Arts · $4,000

Support from GiVE 365 helped Creative Aging offer services more frequently at Alzheimer's & Dementia Services of Memphis. Workshops, art therapy, and participatory performances help improve seniors' quality of life and overall sense of wellbeing.
Just City
$14,300
Your funding support enabled Just City to onboard a new Clean Slate Coordinator, who will implement its community outreach plan to inform more people about criminal expungement access. The Just City team began meeting with local agencies and other funding partners to bring the marketing plan to fruition.

Man Up Teacher Fellowship
Building Up Memphis: One Teacher at a Time · $10,000
Your grant is supporting the training of aspiring teachers and equipping them with the tools needed to study for and pass their Praxis exams so they can become licensed, qualified teachers. Man Up Teacher Fellowship continues to recruit, train, and support Black male teachers to be positive role models.
