   When a Parent Comes Home

Do you believe a parent's release from incarceration is more difficult for the parent or the child?  Mentors who attended our January Seedling Mentor Training were asked to reflect on this complex subject.    Read More

Today, there are 125 children on the Seedling waiting list.  Very soon, the opportunity for each of these youth to meet a caring mentor will come to its yearly end. Do you know someone who would be a great role model and committed to visiting weekly for the remainder of the year?

Our final two New Mentor Orientations will be held this week on Thursday, February 5th (5:30p.m.-8:00p.m.) and Saturday, February 7th (9:00a.m
- 11:30a.m.).

Please encourage people you admire to apply right away at
on the Mentor Program tab or to call our office for details.  Thank you for making our program great!

Question of the Month
   What is a Vision Board?

You may have read about vision boards in a previous Mentor Minute and wondered why we enthusiastically encourage you to engage in this fun and meaningful activity with your mentee. Created with cutout pictures and words from magazines, the vision board becomes an illustration of intentions.  Creating a vision board is a wonderful way to help your mentee set goals or think about what he/she wants to be doing in the future.

To learn how to make a vision board with your mentee, visit can play an important part in helping their mentee with the visioning process by reminding their mentee of his/her strengths and encouraging to dream big.

Watch your email this month for a message from your Mentor Director, suggesting more topics worth visioning.

For 5th Grade Mentors

To start your mentee on the path of looking ahead, each month this spring we will offer suggestions on how to begin a conversation with your 5th grader about his/her middle school expectations.  This month, inspire curiosity and anticipation in your mentee as you both take a virtual tour of his/her new school.
