Seeing God at Work Across Asia

Greetings,

Thank you for your prayers over the past month as we have begun traveling and meeting other members of the CCI team. Gina's parents so generously came to Australia to take care of the kids while we were away. We had the privilege of attending the CCI Philippines National Conference, along with John North from Ambassadors for Christ International. We spent quality time getting to know members of the CCI team and hearing the stories of impact in individual lives as well as entire communities.

Following the conference, we traveled south to visit churches and individuals involved in the CCI ministry in Mindanao. We were so blessed to hear of one man who received CCI pastoral training and felt a calling to plant churches. He discovered there was a nearby municipality that had no evangelical church and was oppressed by witchcraft that led many to self-harm and bondage. He began to visit homes and establish relationships in this area, eventually building a bamboo church by hand and running services as well as kids' programs. The church was planted, and he is already raising up a younger leader to take the pastoral role.

After a few days back home in Sydney, we flew to Vietnam to meet with the national directors from all around the Indochina region. What a blessing to meet these amazing men and women who have given their lives and resources to teach the Word of God in some very difficult places. Dr. David Nelson, the CCI President, along with Josh, led strategic training/planning, combined with much prayer and heartfelt sharing.

We also had the privilege of visiting a local church held on the top floor of a very narrow, tall home. We met a young lady there who shared her testimony. Four months earlier, she found the truth of Jesus online while searching for truth. Her eyes sparkled as she shared what Jesus and the gospel meant to her in her life. She said her grandmother and brother have also now received Jesus, and she eagerly prays for the rest of her family to come to know him too. But there remains such a tie to ancestor worship and the religion that has been passed through so many generations.

Along with all these trips and rich relationships, we praise God that Josh is in his final trimester of his master's degree. In three weeks, he will have completed his final courses and second capstone project. It has been a huge undertaking, and we are constantly amazed not only by the provision for it and the wisdom he has gained, but also by the perfect timing. The courses he has taken have perfectly matched the current needs of his new role with CCI and the knowledge it requires. We often pray for wisdom and guidance, and this is such a tangible expression of that.
