In this Newsletter, Hutch Garmany and his wife, Ashleigh, tell about the unfolding story of their church plant in rural Georgia. God is renewing the hearts of the leaders and renewal is taking place in their congregation.
                                     
Looking back on life it is easy to identify key events that change and help define us. But when Hutch Garmany came to his first Battle for Men’s Hearts in 2012 he had no idea of the widespread impact his decision would have not just in his life and family but also in the lives of his future congregants.

“Coming into the Battle for the Heart, I had more of a rational understanding about renewal,” Hutch shared. “I believed that if you did the right things to work toward renewal then the renewal would take place. The Battle process allowed me to understand that renewal is more than just the result of the combination of the right things but instead it starts with and involves the renewal of my whole heart; it is renewing my relationship and is affecting my whole life and ministry.

Renewal was not something Hutch and Ashleigh wanted to see just on a personal level but something they envisioned on a church level too.

Joining with 8 other families to plant Grace Community Church in 2014, their heart was to see renewal in the hearts of the people who would join the congregation and ultimately in every part of the Dade county community – churches, families, children, schools and businesses all experiencing the transformational love of God.

Part of cultivating the environment for renewal has involved building the Battle for the Heart into the foundational DNA of Grace Community, with the leaders gaining heart and skills of authentic community on an individual and congregational level.

Already, the church is seeing fruits...

At Wellspring Group we are seeing a number of church planters coming to the Battle for the Heart who are longing to see individuals experience renewal through authentic Biblical community in the local church.   Authentic relationships and community aren’t easy to develop.  It is a battle and can only be won as we fully engage in the Battle for our own hearts and the hearts of those around us in our families and communities.   Hutch and Ashleigh and the men and women of Grace Community Church are fully engaged in that messy, sometimes painful but always fruitful Battle.  As they are they are fulfilling the desires of Jesus in John 17.

John 17:22-23 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.  

We currently have 5 church planters involved in the Battle for the Heart and long to see more! Thank you for your love, prayer and support as we see the dream that God has given us to see Churches becoming transforming communities overflowing with God's love, grace and truth become a reality.
