Dear PPIA Supporters and Alumni,

The Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) Program seeks a new Chair to serve on our Board of Directors.

Ideal candidates meet the following criteria:
  • Deep understanding of the current environment around DEI issues in higher education and public service.
  • Demonstrated commitment, investment, and track record of working with the community PPIA serves.
  • Willing to support the mission of PPIA as an active participant in a dynamic and growing national nonprofit.
  • Have served in senior executive roles in their career.
  • Experience with organizational advancement and fundraising.
  • Extensive network to call upon for the benefit of PPIA mission, willingness to use it, and ability to engage with those at most senior levels.
  • Ability to build a strong relationship with PPIA Executive Director and work effectively together to cultivate PPIA.
  • Strategic thinker, guide the planning and development of PPIA to take it to the next level.
  • Inclusive and strong group facilitation skills and previous board service experience.
  • Has the capacity/time to commit to the role as Chair for three years, devoting at least 10 hours a month.

The Board Chair is required to:
  • Commit to a minimum 3-year appointment, renewable once.
  • Participate in quarterly Board Committee meetings and occasional Executive Committee meetings via Zoom or in-person (one in person in Washington DC annually).
  • Help to develop the agenda for meetings in conversation with the Executive Director.
  • Participate in meetings for at least one sub-committee. 
  • Help connect PPIA with foundations, corporations, or individuals who can support the activities and growth of the organization.
  • Provide a strategic vision for the growth of the organization.

Selection Timeline:
