Dear PPIA Supporters and Alumni,
The Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) Program seeks a new Chair to serve on our Board of Directors.
Ideal candidates meet the following criteria:
- Deep understanding of the current environment around DEI issues in higher education and public service.
- Demonstrated commitment, investment, and track record of working with the community PPIA serves.

Willing to support the mission of PPIA as an active participant in a dynamic and growing national nonprofit.
- Have served in senior executive roles in their career.
- Experience with organizational advancement and fundraising.
- Extensive network to call upon for the benefit of PPIA mission, willingness to use it, and ability to engage with those at most senior levels.
- Ability to build a strong relationship with PPIA Executive Director and work effectively together to cultivate PPIA.
- Strategic thinker, guide the planning and development of PPIA to take it to the next level.
- Inclusive and strong group facilitation skills and previous board service experience.
- Has the capacity/time to commit to the role as Chair for three years, devoting at least 10 hours a month.
The Board Chair is required to:
- Commit to a minimum 3-year appointment, renewable once.
- Participate in quarterly Board Committee meetings and occasional Executive Committee meetings via Zoom or in-person (one in person in Washington DC annually).
- Help to develop the agenda for meetings in conversation with the Executive Director.
- Participate in meetings for at least one sub-committee.
- Help connect PPIA with foundations, corporations, or individuals who can support the activities and growth of the organization.
- Provide a strategic vision for the growth of the organization.
