Eric Henderson & Malaga - Quartet Performance

Sunday, February 22 @ 4PM (Doors 3:30PM)

Eric Henderson returns to the Laguna Beach Cultural Arts Center with Malaga for an afternoon of richly layered, genre-defying music that reflects a lifetime of mastery and an artist fully in his stride.

A direct protégé of Andrés Segovia, Henderson has reached a rare and compelling moment in his career. This is his golden period, where technical brilliance, emotional depth, and lived experience converge. The result is music that feels expansive, soulful, and deeply human, shaped as much by life as by lineage.

The program moves seamlessly between Spanish classical guitar, original compositions, and inspired reinterpretations. Henderson draws unexpected connections between classical traditions, surf music, and Spaghetti Western soundscapes, illuminating how early surf music itself was often rooted in complex classical structures. He doesn’t simply revisit those influences, he extends them, composing original surf- and Western-inspired works infused with classical sophistication and cinematic flair.

Joined by his Malaga quartet, featuring electric guitar, bass, and drums, the music opens into a broader sonic landscape. The rock-and-roll backline adds energy, texture, and propulsion, surrounding Henderson’s Spanish guitar with a sound that is at once intimate and expansive, refined yet boldly expressive.

Presented in Orange County’s premier listening room, this performance invites close attention to every nuance: the fire, the restraint, the spaces between notes, and the depth of feeling behind them.

This is Eric Henderson at his peak: confident, curious, and fully present. A concert shaped by time, tradition, and an artist still moving forward.
