** We are in an emergency status to collect blood this coming week. We are not keeping up with hospital demands for blood and that means surgeries delayed or cancelled, trauma services not available, cancer patients without transfusion support for the side effects of chemotherapy, and potentially even a life lost. Your participation is greatly appreciated.
January is National Blood Donor Month! Carter BloodCare loves to celebrate our donors, and we have friends who like to celebrate with us. The Girl Scouts and Cumulus Cares are giving Carter BloodCare blood donors *one box of Girl Scout cookies for saving lives.

Below are a few bullet points for reference:
  • To use our time and resources wisely, we ask that donors be signed up in advance via email. See above Seis Lagos link.
  • The process per donor takes about 45 minutes from start to finish. The actual donation takes about 8-10 minutes. Each donor receives a mini physical which includes checking of blood pressure, hemoglobin count, temperature and pulse. About 5 business days following the donation, donors can check our website to get their cholesterol reading and blood type.
  • Each donor receives points for their donation which can be redeemed at our on-line store for a t-shirt or other items.
  • Donors are asked to eat a good meal and drink plenty of water prior to their donation.
  • Each donor needs a picture ID to donate blood.
  • Donors in good general health can most likely give blood – healthy individuals who are at least 16 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds are encouraged.
  • Walk-ins welcome. We will accommodate any potential overflow that may turn out for this Blood Drive.
  • Outside communities may participate in this Blood Drive.
Give life to the community. Donate today.
Every single blood donation we receive at Carter BloodCare is life-saving, life-enriching or life-changing for everyone involved in the process. Donations made at our donor centers and mobile blood drives affect the lives of people in your community. With more than 20 donor centers and multiple blood drives happening each day, giving blood with Carter BloodCare is easier than ever.
Seis Lagos Emergency Response Team

The Dallas tornado showed us what might happen if a tornado struck in Seis Lagos and Lucas. We may be cut off from Lucas and Wylie emergency services for some time by trees or debris blocking roads. There may be damage to homes in Seis Lagos and people may be injured or trapped. As much as we would all want to help our neighbors, an uncoordinated effort by untrained people could result in more people being hurt. There are Community Emergency Response (CERT) Teams in the area and some residents of this community are (or have been) members of those teams.

We would like to get residents of Seis Lagos trained in emergency response to be able to help our neighbors in case of an emergency. These trained people would also know CPR and could help with other problems that could occur in our community or other communities that might have experienced a disaster. East Texas Regional CERT provides training that can be used to help us form a team. Their website at http://easttexrc.org/ has a calendar that shows when some of these Basic CERT classes are available. They are generally held on two Saturdays to complete the training and are FREE. We are trying to get a class held in Seis Lagos, but that may take some time to arrange.

If you are interested in participating in a Seis Lagos emergency response team and would be willing to be trained or have already been trained, please contact David Stevens at [email protected] . If you would like more information on what this all would encompass, please respond also. If there is enough interest, we will schedule a preliminary meeting to discuss how we could each help our neighbors in an emergency.

Message from the ACC President

I am reaching out to the entire Seis Lagos Community to recruit members for the Architectural Control Committee.

The ACC commitment is usually no more than two to four hours per month including our monthly meetings. We meet the 2 nd Sunday of each month at 6:30 PM. Our monthly meetings last between one to two hours, depending on the ACC items to be reviewed and approved. Occasionally, it is necessary to walk a new home build to conduct a "Final Inspection".

If you are interested, please join the ACC at our next meeting, Sunday, 1/12/20 at 6:30 PM in the HOA conference room. In order to become a ratified member, you will need to attend 3 to 4 meetings consecutively, if at all possible. After that, if you are still interested in becoming a permanent member, I will send your request to the HOA Board. You will then go before HOA Board for a brief Q & A. Unless, there is an issue at that time, you will then be ratified by the HOA Board and become a voting member of the ACC.

Thank you in advance for your interest,
Andy James
Chairman, ACC Seis Lagos Community
