SelecTech to exhibit at SMTA International

Later this month, SelecTech will exhibit at the SMTA International, October 22-24 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois.

For those who may not know, SMTA is an international network of professionals who build skills, share practical experience and develop solutions in electronics manufacturing. SMTA has more than 50 locations throughout the world. The annual SMTA International brings all those locations together for one big event.

If you’re attending the show, please stop by the StaticStop/SelecTech booth. We’ll have a special guest from the ESDA. He’ll be talking to visitors about the benefits of an ESDA membership and sharing his knowledge on static control and the importance of an overall ESD strategy.

Speaking of ESDA

SelecTech President Tom Ricciardelli presented the ESDA floor committee’s guidelines for static control practices for healthcare facilities at the Association's recent Symposium. The presentation was very well received.

The ESDA began as a volunteer organization of 100 people or so focused on ESD on electronic components. Over the years, the Association has broadened its horizons to include areas such as textiles, plastics, web processing, cleanrooms, and graphic arts. Today, ESDA has more than 15,869 members and volunteers throughout the world.

Those interested in getting a copy of the ESD Guidelines for healthcare facilities can can visit ESDA’s website. There’s a $20 fee for the document.

Interlocking installation tip 1

Store your tiles flat

To avoid damaging the interlock system on your tiles, always store them flat on the ground, not on their sides. The tiles use a zipper system to ensure a tight fit, and storing them on their sides can distort the edges. Distorting the zipper can make installation increasingly difficult and cause further damage to the tile.
