The Select Board has a packed agenda this evening. At 6:30, an hour is dedicated to a discussion with the Planning Board related to housing initiatives and zoning reforms. 7:35 begins the business section of the agenda. Warrant articles are being proposed for November town meeting. A warrant article related to the land at 0 West Falmouth Highway will be presented.

A local resident worked with the town attorney to draft language that would put a conservation restriction on this land. The petition wording is below.

The Village Association sent a letter in July highlighting safety concerns at this location which has been identified by MA DOT as an area in need of mitigation. Further justifying the safety issues, below is a picture of the most recent crash just over a week ago at this location.

We recently toured the Saconesset Homestead which deepened our already strong appreciation for the historical district that begins at the site of this parcel. Below are images of a flyer that was used when the museum was open to the public.

It has also been brought to our attention that the land being considered for housing may have been purchased by the town in 1931 for the purpose of Long Pond Watershed protection. If so, repurposing it for development deserves careful scrutiny to ensure it aligns with the original intent and serves the public interest.

If this warrant article is supported by our Town Manager/Select Board and is successfully voted in at November Town Meeting, this land will be protected in perpetuity.

Please feel free to attend this evenings meeting if this interests you.
