State Arts Council opens selected grant applications

Deadline is Sept. 1


Applications are now open for two arts and culture grant programs – General Operating Support for Organizations and General Operating Support for Artists.


The deadline for submitting a grant application is Sept. 1 at 11:59 p.m.

New Call for Art!

Solo exhibitions sought for Gallery at the State Health Laboratories

Application Deadline: Aug. 12


Currently, RISCA has an open call for two solo six-month exhibits for its Gallery at the State Health Laboratories, a partnership with the R.I. State Health Laboratories, a division of R.I.’s Department of Health (RIDOH). The gallery's mission is to promote outstanding exhibitions by artists whose work sits at the intersection of art, science and innovation. 


Located in a corridor in the new State Health Laboratories building,150 Richmond St., Providence, the gallery has been designed so that artwork and related signage can be viewed from the sidewalk of the building.


All applications are reviewed by a panel of artists and community members. The panel gives preference to artwork themed around science, innovation and discovery.

  • $2,500 honorarium for the 6-month artwork on loan.

Calls for Art

photography and musical works requested for psychiatric facility


Deadline is July 20


RISCA, in partnership with Eleanor Slater Hospital, Regan Unit, has two public art calls for photography and original music. Selected works will be licensed for use as part of seasonal slideshows in the patient units. The slideshow and accompanying music are to provide patients with a calming, art‑based alternative in activity and therapy spaces.


Only R.I. residents 18 years old or older can apply. Undergraduate students are not eligible.


For the photography call, works should reflect seasonal change through landscapes, wildlife, coastal environments, gardens, parks, recognizable landmarks, etc.


For the music call, original compositions should support a calm and therapeutic environment through ambient, atmospheric, or otherwise soothing instrumental compositions. Vocal music will not be considered.

  • Budget: $500 licensing honorarium for selected photographs.

Apply to join a directory of arts educators

Deadline is Aug. 1

 

Applications are now open for our directory of approved arts educators, known as the Teaching Artist Roster. The Roster, managed by CreativeGround, a program of the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA), is a list of teaching artists and arts organizations who have been reviewed by public panels and selected based on their mastery of an artistic discipline, and experience and training to work in educational settings.


The Roster is used as a public resource for educators and individuals looking to engage an artist for arts learning, residencies or programs. Projects funded through RISCA's Project Grants in Education are encouraged to work with artists on the Roster.


The deadline to apply is Aug. 1. Read more and apply.
