THE POWER OF HABIT
Self Control, Out of Control, Under Control
James 1:2-4, 12, 16-17

Weekly Prayer
God, many of us have earthly desires that have been shaped by the people, places, and platforms in our lives. But since we’ve committed our lives to You, You’ve given us an appetite for desires that sustain us, grow us, and anchor us in Your love. For many of us, this consecration has meant that the desires in our hearts and minds have reached a point of conflict, and trials of testing have translated into cycles of temptation.

But we are grateful that You always provide a way out, that we might courageously take the necessary steps towards the exits from temptation and pursue a life of freedom. We pray for the power of Your Spirit to govern our decisions to pursue the desires that You’ve inspired in us. We pray that we would walk in the grace You’ve made available to us to break the cycles of temptation and addiction so that we might emerge from consecration fully victorious over the trials we face. We come in full agreement with Your Word which offers that “Whom the Son sets free is free indeed.”

Thank You for the power to interrupt the cycle.

In the name of Jesus, we pray, amen.
