It was no coincidence that God would direct my attention to Nehemiah, specifically the section where they were rebuilding the wall. The city was in ruins. Once they started to rebuild the wall and it had reached half its height, their enemies took notice. God directed them to equip half the men with spears, bows, and armor to look out for those doing the work. The other half were to carry materials with one hand and hold a weapon in the other.

As the people of Judah rebuilt the wall, they were actively prepared to respond to threats to their safety and life. That leads to a very important question.

Are believers in the marketplace actively prepared to respond against the attack of the enemy?

Remember, we are told in Ephesians 6 that we do not fight against flesh and blood. 1 Peter 5:8 tells us that we have an enemy that prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to destroy.

As the Tolberts taught us, one of the biggest keys to avoiding being a victim of a crime is to limit distractions and be prepared and alert at all times. How are Kingdom-minded business owners preparing daily?
