This session will cover how to use the Self-Directed Health Care Kit . This kit is designed to help individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities (I/DD) advocate for their own health care and support clear communication between the individual and their health care practitioners. The kit includes a set of forms for tracking health care concerns and interventions. It has also been designed to help the person in a supportive role to help advocate for the individual and enhance the interaction between the individual and the health care practitioner.

Survival Coalition of Statewide Disability Organizations Responds to State Agency Budget Requests
State agencies submitted their budget requests to Governor Walker last week. The Arc Dane County is a part of several Statewide advocacy groups, including The Survival Coalition, who pay close attention to the potential policies that trickle down and impact families at the local level.  The Survival Coalition of Disability Organizations of Wisconsin recognizes key funding initiatives intended to support people with disabilities in state agency budget requests shared this week, but also notes critical areas that continue to be ignored. Not surprisingly, the number one concern is lack of adequate transportation for people with disabilities.  In the months ahead it may be necessary to call upon you to contact your legislators or be a part of advocacy day efforts at the State Capitol.
Take the Wisconsin Disability Vote Coalition Survey
The Wisconsin Disability Vote Coalition has 230 completed surveys to date - help us reach 500!  We want to hear about your voting experiences in Wisconsin during the August 14, 2018 primary election. We are interested in accessibility and disability voter access at the polls. The results of this survey will help us to have a clearer picture of what the accessibility issues are for Wisconsin voters with disabilities and how they feel about their voting experiences. Please share your experiences by taking our survey! Your voice counts!
