Little Tractor Pumps Lots Of Air

Wilmer Hanson turned his SC Case into a self-propelled air compressor with a big storage tank. The tractor didn’t have what it takes for fieldwork anymore but its 31 hp belt drive was just right to power an industrial air compressor. Combined with a converted 200-gal. LP tank mounted to the other side, the SC is as useful as ever.

“It’s great to be able to drive it to wherever we need air,” says Hanson. “My sons use it to paint, sandblast and for anything else that needs air pressure. If the tank is full, you can paint an entire tractor before you need to start the compressor.”...Read More!

SHOP TIP of the WEEK!

Hose Reel Bolted On Top Of Air Compressor

Tom Dufrense, Grant, Minn.: “I got tired of having coiled air hose getting tangled up around my portable shop air compressor. So I bolted a heavy-duty air hose reel on top of the compressor’s pull handle. It was relatively easy to attach with a bracket attached to the bottom of the hose reel. Keeps my shop neat and I’ve got a lot more hose available.” Submit your own shop tip!

“Firewood” Truck Models Have Impressive Detail

Give Kerry Fuhs a few pieces of good firewood and about 400 hrs. and he will build a model truck with amazing detail. Open the toothpick-hinged cab doors and hood of his Kenworth to reveal a leather-covered steering wheel, and a 600 Cummins engine. Check out the precise engravings of the truck’s model and number - all while preserving the beauty of the grains and knots of the wood.

“I use pinion and cedar and alligator juniper (wood) that has different skin on the outside and beautiful colors,” says the Gallup, N.M. artist, who also runs a construction company. “I use firewood and split it. If it doesn’t turn out I can always burn it.”...Read More!

Leaky Ceiling

Ole had a leak in the roof over his dining room so he called a repairman.

“When did you first notice the leak?” the repairman asked.

Ole said, “Last night, when it took me two hours to finish my soup!”
