What does yoga mean to you?
Yoga informs my life, every day. From my morning practice, to everything I do, think and feel throughout my day, yoga has a part to play. It’s a commitment to paying attention and taking responsibility for myself and how I show up in the world. It offers me strength and resilience when life throws in bumps and challenges, and a deep contentment when everything is flowing along smoothly. Practicing yoga throughout my life has shown me that everything I need is already here if I just pay attention.
My mother taught me to sew when I was very young. She instilled in me a deep love and appreciation of making beautiful things using gorgeous fabrics. I have continued to sew throughout my life, making clothes, quilts, wedding dresses, wall art pieces, and more recently, unique weighted quilts with a friend. When I work with lovely fabrics, beautiful designs and colors, I can lose myself in the wonder of it, and I’m often amazed at what chooses to reveal itself in the finished piece.
What is your favorite yoga pose?
Savasana, Corpse Pose. I love the feeling of being empty, completely still and quiet, allowing layers of tension to melt away.
