Everybody wants the 8:00AM call. It saves them from having to go to work and come home to meet the tech or to take 1/2 day vacation.
Ask your dispatchers how many people he/she talks to that requests the 8:00AM slot.
If you have to explain the extra cost, you tell them that you always dispatch the techs first call to the location nearest their home to keep drive time to a minimum.
By changing the location of the first call, it increases the drive time to the job and also from the first call to the next call.
If you do just two $35.00 first calls a day, that's an extra $70.00 x 250 days or $17,500 net profit at the end of the year.
