SCPS' "CTE Rocks On Tour" Visits Seminole and PSI High
In celebration of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, the popular "CTE Rocks on Tour" is back!
Here at SCPS, we have 51 Career and Professional Academies, and our goal is to help students explore career fields they are interested in, or passionate about. The CTE Rocks on Tour is an opportunity for community members, business partners, and parents of rising 9th grade students to come onto our campuses and see the variety of programs we have to offer.
Each CTE program provides hands-on learning that brings real-world lessons to life in our classrooms. These tours showcase the SCPS commitment to allow students to be future-ready and graduate with a diploma that is meaningful to them.
| |
This week, the CTE Rocks on Tour visited Seminole High and the Problem Solving Incubator (PSI High). Participants in this session received a behind-the-scenes tour of the Academy of Health Careers, Aviation, Automotive and Collision Repair programs!
This isn't the shop class or home economics class you grew up on, because in Seminole County, CTE rocks!

Principal Brandon Hanshaw - Crooms Academy of Information Technology | |
Dr. Brandon Hanshaw has been a principal for 8 years, currently serving at Crooms Academy. When asked about his favorite part of being a principal, he replied, “My favorite aspect of serving as the principal of Crooms is honoring the rich legacy of the Crooms family. Our school was founded 99 years ago with the goal of providing African American students across Central Florida access to a rigorous arts/science curriculum and preparing them for higher education. Crooms stands on the shoulders of academic giants, and we are proud to continue this tradition by offering all Seminole County students an exceptional, unique educational experience that sets us apart from any other school in the district.”
An interesting fact about Dr. Hanshaw is that he is a huge Historical Fiction fan, especially when it comes to the State of Florida! He enjoys the works of authors such as Carl Hiaasen, Randy Wayne White, John MacDonald, and Patrick Smith. Dr. Hanshaw's all-time favorite book is "A Land Remembered" by Patrick Smith.
We deeply appreciate Dr. Hanshaw's commitment and outstanding leadership. Go Panthers!
