Casselberry Elementary's Figurative Language Fashion Show
As one of their Literacy Week spirit days, Casselberry Elementary encouraged their students to dress-up as a figurative language phrase! Students who wore their figurative language-styled clothing got to show off their outfit on the red carpet!
This is an amazing way to get our students thinking outside the box, while having a fun time doing it! Go Pandas!

Endeavor Students Receive Hands-On Skills Training
Endeavor School is partnering with the SCPS Student Support Services Transition Team to provide students the opportunity to head to their workspace, the STAC! Multiple times a month they will practice essential life and vocational skills such as laundry, cooking, dishwashing, and assembly line tasks.
As part of this incredible opportunity, they’ll also be learning to count inventory, pack, and create stuffed animals for the Teddy Gram Direct Enterprise!
We are especially grateful that our students get to practice these skills in a realistic, hands-on environment, beyond the classroom, where they can experience what it’s like to work in a real-world setting. This partnership provides such valuable experience for their growth and future success.
We can’t wait to see all the amazing things our students will accomplish for the rest of the semester!

2025 Florida Teacher of the Year Visits Indian Trails Middle School
Indian Trails Middle School, home of the 2025 SCPS Teacher of the Year, Vita Holguin, was thrilled to host Jamie Suarez, the 2025 State of Florida Teacher of the Year.
Ms. Suarez worked with Ms. Holguin and her students, and then later, led an engaging professional development session focused on incorporating games into the classroom to enhance excitement and foster interactive learning. Participants explored strategies to motivate students through group collaboration and competition, which can significantly increase student engagement in math classes. The session offered educators the opportunity to engage with games that can be seamlessly integrated into their lessons. Attendees were provided with ready-to-use slides to implement these strategies in their classrooms.
Ms. Suarez's unique approach makes learning accessible and engaging for all students, allowing them to take an active role in their own education. We can't wait to see how our ITMS teachers use this information to create their own learning games.

Principal Brett White - Heathrow Elementary School | |
Principal White has honorably served SCPS for 32 years. He has been a Principal at Heathrow Elementary for eight and a half years. When asked about his favorite part of being a principal, he replied “The constant interaction with students, staff, and parents and hopefully influencing them for their betterment."
An interesting fact about Principal White is that he wrote a book when he was just 12 years old...although it hasn't been published yet, it's still a very impressive achievement!
As a district, we are so thankful for Principal White's dedication and leadership. Go Heathrow, Knights!
