They competed with each other to find the meaning of words using Greek and Latin roots.

We don't know about our readers, but we might just be a little rusty at this activity! Way to go, Owls! We love how our teachers always find innovative and creative ways to help our students engage in learning.
Author Delights Students with Visit to Evans Elementary
The students and staff at Evans Elementary welcomed Victoria Piontek, author of the Sunshine State Book, Better with Butter. She spoke with 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, and even had lunch with students who read and passed the AR test for her book!
This special event wouldn't have happened without Mrs. Vacarro and our PTA and parent volunteers. Special thanks to Huey Magoos who donated lunch! This is a great example of how it takes many hands and members of our community to make SCPS the incredible district we are.

Volunteers Needed - Living On My Own Program
We Need Volunteers to Help with Financial Literacy Program
Are you curious about what happens in the "Living on My Own" city? "Living on My Own" is coming to Indian Trails Middle School on Tues, 4/23 and Wed 4/24. This financial literacy program created by UF IFAS Extension Seminole County/UF IFAS Extension Seminole County 4-H is provided to SCPS in partnership with business partners, community members, ITMS PTSA, and volunteers like you!
During each 90min session, students are assigned jobs or careers and family situations, and will then make a transaction at 10 storefronts in the "city" including transportation, housing, groceries and more. Students will consider lifestyle choices that adults face daily as they manage a monthly income and their bank account.
Are you an adult who has paid bills? You are totally qualified! Consider volunteering for a session of "Living on My Own"! Volunteers are at each "storefront" in the city which represent real life businesses. Information and instructions are located at each station. There will be a quick volunteer training and overview of the program on the day of the event.
