What's Cool in Our Schools

Hagerty High Students Explore the Future with Aging Lab

In an innovative and eye-opening experience, Ms. Douglas’s AP Psychology classes recently participated in an aging lab.

This unique activity allowed students to gain firsthand insight into the changes that occur as people age. During the lab, students engaged in various exercises designed to simulate the effects of aging. By experiencing these aging effects, students could better appreciate the resilience and adaptability required as people grow older.

This approach to teaching psychology through interactive and experiential learning continues to inspire and educate students. Go Huskies!

Idyllwilde Elementary Students Go Back in Time

Second grade students at Idyllwilde Elementary embarked on an unforgettable journey to Ellis Island, stepping back in time to the early 1900s. The students re-enacted the experiences of immigrants arriving in New York Harbor, bringing history to life in a vivid and engaging way. Upon “arriving” on the ship, the students went through the immigration process just as real immigrants did over a century ago. They experienced the excitement and challenges of entering a new country, gaining a deeper understanding of the immigrant experience. This hands-on learning adventure truly brought history to life.

Hamilton Elementary SECME Students Engineer Water Bottle Rockets

Hamilton Elementary’s SECME students recently showcased their engineering skills by creating and launching water bottle rockets! Students gathered on the school field, preparing their rockets to take flight. This activity not only provided a practical application of STEM concepts but also fostered teamwork and creativity among the students.

Second-graders Get Skills Session with Harlem Globetrotter

Hammer Harrison of the Harlem Globetrotters paid a visit to Carillon Elementary second graders.

Hammer spoke to the students about the importance of maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle, sharing valuable tips and personal stories. The visit was highly interactive, with Hammer engaging the students in fun activities!

Each student was thrilled to receive a signed autograph from Hammer, making the day even more special. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the University of Central Florida and the Harlem Globetrotters for providing such a fantastic experience for our students. Their support made this inspiring event possible, leaving a lasting impact on our young learners. Go Comets!

Pack the Patrol Car 2024

Each year, school resource deputies from the Seminole County Sheriff's Office gather at locations in Seminole County to "Pack the Patrol Car" with gifts for our most vulnerable students. The words "Thank you" cannot begin to express the gratitude we have for the critical role our deputies play in keeping our schools safe and building relationships on our campuses.

We are deeply humbled by the outpouring of support and generosity of our community members who purchased gifts to donate, who have sent gifts via our Amazon Wishlist, dropped off donations, and so much more. It takes all of us to join together and create this kind of holiday magic for hundreds of students. Thank you for the bottom of our hearts for the way you embrace our school district and our students!
