Longwood Elementary Brings History to Life
Fifth-grade students at Longwood Elementary took a step back in time to the American Revolution. To bring this history to life, the students participated in an exciting game of Tug-of-War, each group representing a belief system, symbolizing the struggle and determination of those involved in the American Revolution.
While only one team emerged victorious, the true triumph was the enthusiasm displayed by the students. This lesson not only provided a fun and engaging way to learn about history but also fostered a sense of unity among classmates.
Thank you to all of our incredible teachers who create innovative ways to engage our students in learning.

Goldsboro Elementary Magnet Kindergarten students are learning about how to safely explore Mars in the school's Space Lab. They get the privilege of listening to one of the astronauts on the ISS read a story about the Curiosity rover, and then they get to have hands-on experience using a LEGO model of the Perseverance rover. To continue this exciting journey, students can go into the Lander room where they can explore various probes that have been sent to Mars over the years. Sanford Middle School Pre-Vet Student Featured in State-wide Campaign
Nevaeh Hernandez, a pre-vet student at Sanford Middle School, was selected to have her story, and her school program shared in a state-wide campaign for public school.
When Nevaeh's grandmother's dog had a litter of a puppies, she quickly noticed one of the newborn puppies not moving or breathing. Acting quickly, Neveah immediately began CPR, which she had learned two weeks prior in her pre-veterinary class, and ultimately saved the puppy’s life. Much to her delight, her mother agreed to let her keep the puppy who she named Asher.
