What's Cool in Our Schools

SCPS Celebrates Veterans Day

Seminole County Public Schools proudly celebrated Veterans Day with assemblies and activities across our campuses. This special day is dedicated to honoring the brave men and women who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. Throughout the county, schools engaged in various activities to honor our veterans. We love honoring the service, sacrifice, valor, and dedication of all our veterans.

Tuesday's Teach-in Take Over

Each November, SCPS opens our campuses to community members to visit our classrooms and give our students glimpses into unique hobbies, career fields, inspiring stories, and more.

From animal visitors and coin collections to TV news anchors and scientists, our students receive a day of enrichment and exploration.

We are so thankful for all of our Teach-in volunteers and organizers.

Hamilton Elementary Students Are Learning in the Fast Lane

4th graders at Hamilton Elementary School of Engineering and Technology just crossed the finish line on their Motion Mobile engineering unit.

They studied famous race car drivers and the history of racing in their reading classes, analyzed data and studied measurement in math, and engineered actual Motion Mobiles in science while studying forces that impact motion.

This unit culminated with a trip to Daytona International Speedway where students were able to explore a real-world connection to everything they had studied!

In the Spotlight

Rainbow Elementary Strings Tour

We are so excited to share that students from Rainbow Elementary have been selected to open the state music education conference early in 2025 which is an enormous honor. To help prepare her students for this special performance, teacher Becky Senko chose an innovative way to help them get more practice playing in front of crowds. She scheduled a day to take her students "on tour" and they played for students at Midway Elementary School of the Arts, the SCPS District Office, and finished out their day with providing smiles to community members at a local senior living community. We are so proud of these young musicians!
