Cookout with Cobb Police Department

The Power of Peace Project partnered with the Precinct 2 police officers and Major Robert Fisher for a cookout with the South Cobb High School football team at the
Tramore Village Apartments in Austell this past Saturday.

It was a day filled with fun, food, music and games. There was also a cornhole tournament between police officers and the youth. It was no surprise that our athletic team from South Cobb High School won the tournament and have earned bragging rights against our Precinct 2 police officers.

Free vaccine events available in Mableton
The Mableton Farmers Market -- a community service project of the Mableton Improvement Coalition -- Cobb County PARKS, Cobb and Douglas Public Health and the nonprofit Community Organized Relief Effort are partnering to administer free COVID-19 vaccinations at the Mable House Complex. The events will be held 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on August 5th and August 12th at the Mable House Arts Center.

The Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be the only one administered and only one dose is needed. Clients must be 18 years of age or older. We encourage you to make a reservation. However, walk-in clients will be welcome. COVID hospitalization and death numbers have been on the rise of late mainly due to the Delta variant rapid spread. If you haven't been vaccinated, protect your family, friends and yourself by taking advantage of this free vaccine opportunity.

CDPH will administer at the event on August 12th. You can make a reservation online at cdph.jotform.com/211745518305958.
The Mable House complex is located at 5239 Floyd Road, Mableton. More information will be posted on the Mableton Farmers Market Facebook page and MIC social media as needed. Email the market manager at farmersmarket@mableton.org if you have questions/concerns.
Back to School Safety Tips
Georgia Law, O.C.G.A. 40-6-163, defines when a driver can overtake a school bus. If a school bus has activated its lights and the stop sign/arm is out, vehicles approaching the bus MUST stop. The vehicles coming in the opposite direction must also stop unless a median or divider is present. Vehicles should not proceed until the bus has started motion or the visual signals are no longer activated. See the sample illustration.
