Town hall on the Unified Development Code

Join Cobb County Chairwoman Lisa Cupid as she outlines the Unified Development Code and answers your questions, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8. This virtual town hall will be available live streaming and recorded on CobbTV's Youtube channel and on Facebook.

If you have questions, please send them in advance to comments@cobbcounty.org.

What is the UDC? The goal of the UDC is to get all the zoning information into one place. Imagine going to the library to do a research paper and instead of having to look all over the library for information, all the information you need is streamlined, updated and located in one combined book.

Stuff-A-Bus hits the road, collecting toys

Santa needs helpers to make this a jolly Christmas for Cobb County kids. Cobb Christmas, Inc. and CobbLinc are collecting unwrapped new toys during this year's Stuff-A-Bus. A CobbLinc bus dresses up for the holiday and travels to designated sites to collect toys for the Cobb Christmas Annual Distribution. This year we will be hitting the road on Dec. 13-14.

To participate, bring a new, unwrapped toy for children ages 3-13. Donations will be distributed to about 1,000 Cobb families.

For drop off locations near you and for more information, visit the Cobb Christmas website at https://cobbchristmas.net/stuff-a-bus/
Bring a smile to a child of a military family this year for Christmas.
Many military families don't have money for presents in the budget.  So the Georgia National Guard Military Family Support Program offers Christmas assistance to local families in need of a little extra help.

Cash donations are needed by Dec. 10. And unwrapped gifts and git cards care being accepted through Dec. 14.
Please deliver your gifts and donation to these drop off points:
The School Box, Inc. in Kennesaw
The School Box in Northlake
The School Box in Southlake
Aqua Tots Swim School in Kennesaw

Fire safety during the holidays

The newest little firefighters reported for duty at Cobb Fire HQ. The Elf on the Shelf elves, Hook and Ladder received tiny firefighting gear before causing mischief. They want to remind you of a few fire safety tips for elves and humans alike.
  • Check your fire alarms.
  • Always turn off holiday lights when you are sleeping and when you leave the house.
  • Check decorative light strings and cords for fraying.
  • Secure your tree.
  • Add water to the tree daily.
  • Do not put the tree near a heat source like a fireplace, electric heaters, and heat vents.
  • Clean your fireplace.
  •
