What are the factors influencing Northern Virginia’s business climate, including energy, regulation, and the region’s role as a driving force for the Commonwealth’s economy?

During last week’s virtual Executive Member Forum (EMF)*, business leaders joined a candid conversation with Senator Saddam Azlan Salim (37th District) on the policy issues shaping Northern Virginia’s economic future.

During the discussion, Senator Salim shared perspectives on this year’s General Assembly session and offered an early look at priorities already emerging for 2027. Topics ranged from business competitiveness and economic growth to several industries attracting significant attention in Richmond. Participants exchanged ideas on how Northern Virginia can remain competitive while supporting innovation.

As we begin looking ahead to 2027, Senator Salim emphasized the importance of continued engagement between policymakers and the business community. NVC will continue advancing the priorities outlined in the NOVA Roadmap and serving as the voice of business across the region.

What does childcare have to do with workforce capacity? More than you think.

Free for NVC members, join us for a dynamic virtual lunch conversation launching the inaugural NOVA Roadmap Workforce Series and explore one of the most significant, yet often overlooked, factors affecting talent attraction, retention, and economic growth.

The first session in this three-part series, Childcare as Workforce Infrastructure, will bring together regional business leaders and policymakers to discuss how childcare access and affordability function as infrastructure and the policy solutions needed to unlock workforce capacity. Attendees will gain insights into emerging policy priorities and solutions that can help unlock workforce capacity across Northern Virginia.

Last week, at Quantum World Congress, NVC member and NOVA Roadmap Investor, George Mason University, announced the launch of the Virginia Quantum Hub, a new initiative designed to accelerate quantum workforce development, research partnerships, commercialization, and innovation across the Commonwealth.

The effort brings together industry, government, higher education, and innovation partners to strengthen Virginia's position in the rapidly growing quantum technology ecosystem.

The initiative reflects many of the same priorities championed through the NOVA Roadmap, including talent development, regional competitiveness, entrepreneurship, and public-private collaboration.
