Senator Shelley Mayer's Statement in Response to the Verdict in the George Floyd Murder Case

“I am encouraged that the wheels of justice resulted in a just verdict in the George Floyd case tonight. We saw a murder before our own eyes, and it forced a national reckoning about racism in this country that was long overdue. My thoughts are especially with the Floyd family tonight, and all the families who have lost a loved one to police violence. Too many never received the justice they deserved. I am committed to working with my colleagues and all those of good will to continue to build an America that lives up to its promise for every person. There is much work to be done, but tonight, we acknowledge that justice was served.”
