As we enter the holiday season with shorter days and less light, it offers us a time of reflection. As I look back across this past year, once again, the intersection of our personal health needs and public health needs has continued to challenge most of us. The pandemic continues to unfold and we respond in the ways we can to prevent and treat this unique virus.
Our clinical focus on personal health optimization is still a very helpful tool to maintain our personal health and wellness amidst the stressors of our current environment. Maintaining our resilience through the daily practices we have offered for years, appears to be as important as ever. And I am reminded that these are daily practices. I encourage everyone to practice the best you can each day and also take time to reflect and kindly come back to the practices that may have been neglected.
Throughout my life, I have been fortunate to meet many amazing people, both inside and outside my practice. One influential meeting for me was in 2008 while attending the Waldzell meeting at the Melk Abby outside of Vienna. I was fortunate to spend personal time with Br. David Steindl-Rast at a 4 day conference. His life practice and teaching is that of “gratefulness”.
As he says, “when we are given something, the natural response is that of gratefulness”.
I am grateful for the opportunity to be of service to all of our patient community. Your trust and confidence in our care is deeply appreciated. Thank you.
As 2021 comes to a close, hopefully you can take time over the holidays to reflect on the past years' gifts amidst the challenges. To help in that reflection, I am sharing this short video with Br. David (which can also be found on our Britannia Clinic YouTube playlist: “Resilience for Life”)
As we look forward to the brighter days that nature brings once again and as more light enters into our days, we wish you a Healthy and Prosperous Holiday and New Year.
Sincerely,
Dr. Gordon Hasick
