UPDATE FROM THE FIELD: TWO WEEKS LATER

It's been two weeks since a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Southern Haiti. The devastation has affected more than one million Haitians and killed more than 2,200.

In the wake of this disaster, Project Medishare has been working around the clock to collect donations and purchase critically needed medical supplies and emergency items. Thanks to partners such as Direct Relief, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, UHealthThe Shop Forward & Shop ESPWA, Nicklaus Children's Hospital, Wings of Rescue, and YOU, our incredibly generous donors, we've collected tens of thousands of pounds of emergency aid such as water purification tablets, oral rehydration salts, bandages, gauze, splints and so much more.

Our team and volunteers in Port-au-Prince are assembling 5,000 hygiene and food kits that will be distributed to families in the affected areas. The kits contain items such as soap, water purification tablets, face masks, chlorine, pasta, rice, crackers and more. These items are extremely valuable to families affected by the earthquake as hundreds of thousands of people have been left with nothing. Distribution of these emergency kits starts TODAY! As we send this email, a truck is on the way to deliver these important supplies to families in the South.

In addition, members of our medical staff in Haiti are deploying to Les Cayes for a series of mobile clinics in a rural farming community served by our partners at Smallholders Farmers Alliance. This community has no healthcare available to them, and we are thankful to be able to help the victims of the earthquake receive the care they need!

Our Amazon Wishlist is updated frequently with new items - please continue to share this with your friends and family. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far! We have a long road ahead of us, and we appreciate your continued support. Mèsi anpil!
