We all can celebrate a good year as 2023 comes to a close. For us, 2023 has been a year of new energy, fellowship, and more efforts towards our goals of studying, appreciating, and protecting the birds of Arizona. You have helped make AZFO more vital, by attending our Kingfisher Survey, our Shorebird Workshop, our lively Annual Meeting in Payson, and by visiting our new website, AZFieldOrn.org. Thanks to all who filled out our member survey as well. And a shout-out to all our new AZFO members -- we look forward to seeing you in 2024!

2024 Annual Meeting

Save the Dates! Our 2024 Annual Meeting will be in Tucson on the weekend of September 27-29th. Each year we select a location for our annual meeting that we have not visited or birded for some time. The Tucson area is rich in sites for mini-expeditions, and late September should bring us returning wintering birds as well as fall migrants. Stay tuned for more and save the dates!

AZFO Winter Expedition - Lake Havasu Boat Trip

Want to survey Lake Havasu birds with a guide who is an expert in gulls and wintering waterfowl? We are putting the final touches on a boat expedition planned for January 27, 2024. We will let you know when terms and tickets are finalized.

Looking to Get Involved?

AZFO has plenty of opportunities for you to get more involved in what we do to study and appreciate Arizona's birds. Do you have experience in marketing or website managing? Would you like to help plan our upcoming Field Expeditions or Surveys? Would you prefer to help with a workshop to study and learn more about Arizona's waterbirds, raptors, or shorebirds? We are also starting a search for a new Treasurer, that essential behind-the-scenes job that supports all of our activities.
