Generosity in Action
“Many, many thanks to all the DOD members and others who donated to our toy/gift/food drive for the Galilee Center in Mecca again this year,” said President Emeritus Robert Westwood. Over 350 toys/gifts, 500+ food items and $400 in donations were collected. 
Robert's husband George Garcia collected items from Brandini Toffee and the Desert Palms County Club and delivered the items to Galilee. Marlene and Richard Levine also collected items at their La Quinta home.
Helping those who are Food Insecure
Michael Finland, DOD’s candidate development chair, presented a $250 check to Charles Huff and Guillermo Biro of The LGBT Center of the Desert for its food program.
Patrick Weiss, DOD’s community outreach chair, presented a $500 check to Pastor Croom for the First Baptist Church of Palm Springs, for its holiday food program.

Democrats still have Georgia in their sites

Democratic Senatorial candidates Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock are neck-in-neck with the current Georgia senators in the run-off election that has begun. FiveThirtyEight has them at virtual ties:  Ossoff at 48.1 percent; Perdue at 48.9 percent; Warnock at 48.3 percent; Loeffler at 48.5 percent.

2021 Monthly Meeting Schedule

Beginning with our January Meeting, Saturday the 23rd we return to our former practice of holding our monthly meetings on the 4th Saturday of each month.
