President's message
I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and well.
As more of the province and country reopen, we continue to hear many stories of Seneca alumni who are on the front lines of the response to COVID-19. To all of you, we cannot thank you enough. We are proud of you and your work.
Last month we all had a huge hole in the calendar – the postponement of the Spring Convocation ceremonies. We would have celebrated more than 9,000 graduates over 14 ceremonies. We miss the joy of those ceremonies, witnessed by proud family members, friends and Seneca faculty and staff.

Social Service Worker Gerontology alumni in action
In June, a group of Seneca
Social Service Worker Gerontology (SSWG)
students, graduates and teachers decided to step up to help ease feelings of loneliness among seniors in the GTA during the COVID-19 pandemic. The SSWG Response Team is made up of dozens of volunteers ready to make phone calls to seniors in their own home or in long-term care facilities. In addition to volunteering in this initiative, many SSWG graduates are also working in the front-lines in various long-term care facilities. Check out the video below to see what our front-line heroes are up to!

Aviation alumni transports masks out of China
There were no passengers or flight attendants aboard Captain Jack Proctor’s latest flight to China. Instead, the Air Canada pilot and Seneca graduate was part of a four-person crew that flew an empty plane to Shanghai and brought home some much-needed personal protective equipment for front-line health-care workers in Canada.

Graduates from Jamaica work on the front lines
At a time when many people sheltered at home and avoided any place where they might be exposed to infection, three Seneca international students who graduated in April headed to the front lines of the fight against COVID-19 as personal support and social service workers.

We can help your organization
Seneca’s Work-integrated Learning (WIL) team is here to help your organization during these unprecedented times.
Were you hoping to hire a student, but have budget concerns? There are many government funding sources such as wage subsidies, tax credits and other incentives available to employers and we can help you get started.
If hiring a student still is not an option for you, we can assist you if there is a special project
you have been considering for some time but the timing wasn’t quite right. At no cost to you, a team of talented WIL students with the support of experienced Seneca faculty can be engaged to assist you in bringing this project to life.

Alumni Pay It Forward Challenge takes on new meaning
In just a few weeks, our Seneca community of alumni, employees, retirees, corporate partners and friends have provided over
$294,000
for the COVID-19 Relief Fund.
This is nothing short of inspirational. But as weeks turns into months, our students will continue to face the pandemic’s economic fallout and longer-term support is still needed.
Thanks to an anonymous donor, all gifts to this year’s Pay It Forward Challenge will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $50,000.
If you are in a position to help and would like to double your impact and take advantage of the gift match, it is not too late to make your
Pay It Forward donation.
