RED highlights

Iman Kassam was so inspired after a lecture at Seneca Polytechnic that she chased down the guest speakers – a move that launched her career.

The Broadcasting – Radio diploma program student asked Rudy Blair and Anne Lavrih, both of whom worked with Toronto’s 680 News (now CityNews 680), what she needed to do to get an internship.

When Ms. Kassam graduated in 2011, with a 4.0 average, she secured a “dream” internship at 680 News and it changed her life.

Professor and alumna leads push for greater recognition of veterinary technicians

The Ontario government is working to recognize the importance of veterinary technicians more strongly than ever before – and Seneca alumna Kirsti Clarida couldn’t be any happier about it.

“I still shake my head that this is actually happening,” said Ms. Clarida, who is both a professor in the School of Health Sciences and the past president of the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (OAVT).

Ms. Clarida has long been an advocate for legislation like the Enhancing Professional Care for Animals Act, which Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Minister Lisa Thompson introduced last month.
