Seneca couple leave legacy of inspiring people to help others

Three months after Irene Borins Ash and her husband decided to leave two separate bequests in their respective wills in support of students at Seneca, she died of complications from pancreatic cancer, just a few weeks after the couple celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in June.
“She wanted her name to live on — it was her bid for immortality,” said Irv Ash of the School of Legal, Public & Office Administration. “She appreciated that Seneca was the first higher education she did. She very much enjoyed her experience here.”

We want to hear from you!

Seneca College, in partnership with Hanover Research, is conducting a voluntary survey of all Seneca alumni to explore your views and opinions of our correspondence and engagement with you. The last day to submit your feedback is on Monday, September 14.

If you did not receive an alumni survey in your inbox, please contact us for more information.
Alumni, send a Seneca student an encouraging word

As COVID-19 continues to redefine how we work, learn and live, we’re doing everything we can to help students returning to Seneca this fall feel prepared and confident to succeed at a time when nothing feels normal.

Those in the final year of their program may be particularly anxious about what awaits them after graduation. These students have great hopes of being our next first responders, engineers, nurses, journalists, pilots, business leaders, and so much more.
This year, we are calling on our grads to submit a Note of Support letting our graduating students know alumni are rooting for them.

The global pandemic is a challenge unlike any we’ve ever faced and our students need all the support and encouragement we can provide. While students usually enter their graduating year full of hope and excitement for the future, doubts about their job prospects in a pandemic economy are dampening what should be their most memorable year. More than ever, they could use an encouraging word from someone who has walked in their shoes.

Whether it’s an inspirational quote, piece of advice or just a few words to let a student know they have your support, please submit your message of encouragement to advancement@senecacollege.caby September 15. We'll share your virtual Support Card with graduating students during mid-term week in October.

We may also feature your Support Card on our social media channels so don’t forget to provide your own handle!
