February Field Trip

Join us for a trip to Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim for a sanctuary tour. Learn

about the history of this congregation founded in Charleston in 1749, and

the birthplace of Reformed Judaism in 1841. We will have a docent-led tour of the sanctuary lasting about 45-60 minutes which includes a 20-minute documentary video. After the tour, there will be a time for questions. Also, you will have time to visit their museum and gift shop. We can arrange carpools from LifePark. A group of 10 or more needs a reservation; therefore, it is important to reserve our tour by February 11. To reserve your space on the tour, contact Carolyn and leave your name, phone number and if you want to carpool.

Date: Tuesday, February 18

Time: Tour begins at 1:15 pm

Place: 90 Hasell Street Charleston (no parking)

Parking: 69 Wentworth Street OR 85 Hasell St (city parking garages)

Cost: $12 for tour

TEA PARTY MINISTRY

On January 13, the tea party ministry ladies gathered at Oaks on Daniel Island and treated the ladies

to our homemade treats and two types of tea. We were able to spend time visiting with each guest. We

also offered the ladies a copy of the New Testament with Psalms and Proverbs, supplied by the

Gideons. Our next tea party is scheduled for Merrill Gardens at Carolina Park on March 18. If you

would like to join us, please contact Carolyn.

Becoming Mrs.Lewis by Patti Callahan c2018, 2020

(Historical Fiction, Christian Fiction)

“When poet and writer Joy Davidman began writing letters to C. S. Lewis—known as Jack—she was looking for spiritual answers, not love. Love, after all, wasn’t holding together her crumbling marriage. Everything about New Yorker Joy seemed ill-matched for an Oxford professor and the beloved writer of The Chronicles of Narnia, yet their minds bonded over their letters. Embarking on the adventure of her life, Joy traveled from America to England and back again, facing heartbreak and poverty, discovering friendship and faith, and against all odds, found a love that even the threat of death couldn’t destroy.”
