December 15, 2020

Dear friends,

Important Update for District 3 seniors and individuals with disabilities who reserved boxes of meals and groceries for this Wednesday: Due to the anticipated inclement weather on Wednesday, we must postpone meal delivery and pick up to a new date, new time and new location.

New Date: Friday, December 18
New Time: Pick up between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. (If you requested delivery, your boxes should be delivered between between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Friday)
New Location: United Baptist Church, 7701 Riverdale Road, New Carrollton

We do expect to have a limited number of extra boxes of meals, groceries and holiday treats for District 3 seniors 60+ and individuals with disabilities of any age available first-come, first-served at the new date, time and location. If you did not make a reservation, but fit these categories and are in need of boxes of food, please come to United Baptist Church, 7701 Riverdale Road, New Carrollton, on Friday, December 18, after 2:00 p.m.

Please note: there will be NO food available on Wednesday at the New Carrollton Municipal Building. All pick-ups and deliveries have shifted to Friday afternoon at the new location.

Volunteers Needed! Due to this change, some of our previously scheduled volunteer drivers are unable to help. Can you deliver boxes of meals to approximately 6 District 3 seniors and individuals with disabilities on Friday afternoon? Please sign up here. By selecting "1" slot you are signing up to deliver to one route of approx. 6 stops.

Please take a few minutes to read the items on the sidebar to the right for numerous opportunities to help others in need this holiday season as well as some safe ideas for holiday fun.

Just 4 months ago a family in Prince George's County-District 3 welcomed five new babies to their home. Their family of three (Mom, Dad and one child age 5) grew rapidly to a family of eight! This holiday season my office is adopting the family to assist them and would appreciate your help as well.

Space is limited in their home, so gift cards to Target or Amazon are especially appreciated as well as diapers size 2 and larger.
If you are able to assist please email for drop off location.

The Prince George's County Police Department is partnering with Toys4Tots again this year to provide holiday toys to families in need. The need for toys is very high and demand exceeded the number of toys available.

If you are able, please consider donating an unwrapped toy at any Prince George's County Police station. Drop boxes are located in each of the District Station lobbies.

You can also donate toys through the Prince George's County Toys4Tots Amazon Wish List . Be sure to select "Toys for Tots" for the delivery address.

You may also drop off toys at the Town of Riverdale Park Town Hall and at Franklin's Restaurants, Brewery and General Store.

The Route One Communities Care (ROCC) Holiday Works-on-Paper Art Sale is open now through December 20. 13 local artists are donating more than 40 works to support families in need and neighboring restaurants!

Donate diapers and new or gently used winter coats to students at Riverdale Elementary and William Wirt Middle. Drop items at either school on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Starbucks at Capital Plaza is collecting coats for students at Woodridge ES and Glenridge ES. Please drop coats directly at the Capital Plaza location.
