Josh Lyons named CEO of Sunnyside Communities
The Sunnyside Communities board of trustees has appointed Josh O. Lyons as president and CEO of Sunnyside Communities. Lyons succeeds John J. “Jack” Broaddus, who announced in June 2019 his intent to retire in early 2020. A search committee formed by the board, with the assistance of the consulting firm CLA (Clifton Larson Allen), selected Lyons following a national search.

Lyons, who has served as the executive director of the Sunnyside campus in Harrisonburg since 2014, has more than 20 years of experience in the senior living industry. Prior to joining Sunnyside, he served as vice president of health services at Bridgewater Retirement Community. He also held leadership roles at Culpeper Baptist Retirement Community, The Chesapeake Retirement Community – Virginia Baptist Homes, and King’s Grant House. Join Senior Options in Welcoming the following Individuals to their New Roles
Gary Ventola has joined Virginia Lutheran Homes as their CFO. Virginia Lutheran Homes is the parent company of Senior Options' partner, Brandon Oaks Life Plan Community . V entola has 15 years of experience in the financial sector of senior living industry. Most recently, Ventola served as CFO for Terrace Communities, located in Manchester, VT. He directed the financial operation of seven senior retirement communities. He has also served in the CFO capacity at St. Andrew’s Resources for Seniors System, a not-for-profit system of twenty-three senior retirement communities, including three CCRCs. John White has joined United Church Homes and Services (UCHS) as their CFO. UCHS is the parent company of Senior Options' partner Lake Prince Woods . White joins UCHS with 22 years of banking and finance experience. In his most recent 15 years of employment, White served at Ohio Masonic Home, a not-for-profit senior living organization. As CFO, White will be responsible for maintaining a culture of financial awareness and accountability to ensure the best use of the organization’s fiscal resources. Click below to learn more.

  • Kevilin Prah, Respiratory Therapist and Outreach Coordinator for Asbury Home Services, shared the Respiratory Therapist perspective on symptoms and treatment of COVID-19.
  • Rachael Grover and Sean Schittig, Community Liaisons from Acacia Hospice, discussed social distancing marketing strategies and digital support groups during COVID-19.
  • Westminster Canterbury at Home's Outreach Team, Sheila deGuzman, Justin Guess, Tara Higginbotham, and Maggie Valenza, shared pandemic selling best practices.
  • Carla Craig, Robbie Franklin, Terri Morgan, Donna Selby, of First Choice Home Health and Hospice shared their social media marketing strategies during the pandemic.
  • Elaine Smith from Warm Hearth at Home created and shared an educational video on PDGM.
