History of the Manhattan Project
Our world and the wars on it were forever changed during the 1930's and 40's when research and production on the world's first nuclear weapons began. In response, the United States began the Manhattan Project in 1942 to begin our foray into nuclear weapons. By the time Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1945, the Project had been a success and the United States was prepared to launch a counter-offensive. Following the project, we've gone through periods that included acquiring all the nuclear capabilities as possible to nuclear disarmament. However, it all started with the Manhattan Project, which you can learn about more in the video and links below!
If you want to learn more about the Manhattan Project, this should be step number one. Not only does it describe what happened to begin the project, the article also walks you through a timeline of what happened with the project and ultimately where it ended.
While many people know the name of the project, not as many do not know the reason it was named The Manhattan Project. While the initial belief is that it was a code name, it has a different naming reason altogether!
