Avoiding Falls and Staying Fit!
Falling can endanger anyone, and as such we should do everything in our power to avoid falling. This doesn't mean we should stop living our lives in fear of a potential tumble, but there are ways we can live that help us avoid falls. From doing fitness to keeping the mind sharp to having protective measures that assist in our daily lives.
A new study shows that dance-based mind-motor activities can help prevent falls by over 30%. If you love ballroom dancing, this study directly links to you and you should keep going. Even though it's been predicted that dancing is effective in helping avoid falls, this study is direct evidence in support of the claim.
The Mayo Clinic is a world renowned health care provider and provides tips to help prevent falling at the link above. The tips may seem obvious and straightforward, such as going to your doctor, but not everyone does them. The number two tip is to keep moving and if you're looking to do that, check out our flyer posted below!
The link above takes you to an article posted by the National Institute on Aging and provides great guidance on not only prevention, but what to do in case a fall happens.
