Watch Performance Arts from Home!
Theatre is an staple in entertainment and many shows have been cultural hits over the years. Unfortunately, live theatre has been shuttered by the current COVID-19 pandemic, dashing any hopes of witnessing greatness in person. As disappointing as this is, a fantastic opportunity has been presented by the shutdown in free, easily accessible theatre! Check out the links and information below for chances to watch theatre from your own home.
This Youtube channel, The Shows Must Go On! gave an opportunity from April into July for theatre lovers to watch full productions by Andrew Lloyd Webber before closing up for the past two months. Luckily for us, the channel has granted us the ability to see musical theatre in full on Fridays! They post a show on Friday and give you 48 hours to watch the performance. Scheduled for tomorrow is a cinematic concert by Alfie Boe, who is known for playing Jean Valjean in 'Les Misérables'. Click the link above for the stream and other complimentary videos!
If ballet is the medium that you most enjoy, take this opportunity to watch the New York City Ballet's Fall Series! With their performances being posted on Youtube, you have free access to works of art! If you click the link above, you'll be able to see the two performances that have already been uploaded, with a few more scheduled to come. Watch in awe as these performers display strength, grace and choreography to levels only achieved by a few.
Last, but not least, we have the Met Opera nightly opera stream. Each night during the pandemic, the Met has been posting a new performance for us at home to enjoy. Viewable at any time in about a 24 hour period, you have the ability to see more opera performances than you ever thought possible. Upon clicking the link above, you will need to scroll down on their website until you see the Nightly Opera Stream. Click on it and enjoy with everyone else!
