Senior Scrip Newsletter

The winter months of November, December and January are months that may inspire some of us to reflect on what we can be thankful for. It may inspire some of us to share or give of ourselves to others. It may also inspire some of us to think of new beginnings, to review past goals and objectives or to set new ones. And perhaps have hope for a brighter new year.

In that spirit is why we’re asking that you let us know how the Senior Scrip Program (formerly the Taxi Scrip Program) has helped you or has been there for you. Please write us a brief note and let us know if we can publish it. We would like to publish some of your quotes in the next newsletters. It can be something as simple as a sentence or a paragraph. If you have difficulty writing your quote, then give us a call at (559) 233-4148. FAST FACTS

How many scrips can you buy per month?: The maximum Scrip allowed per month has been consistently $100 scrips (at your cost of $25). Even though the amount allowed has not changed, scrip users are no longer required to pay for shipping and handling costs.

Can you donate or giveaway your scrip to another scrip user?

The answer is printed on each of the scrips. Look for this line:

NON-NEGOTIABLE ● NON-TRANSFERABLE ● NO REFUNDS

All scrips are numbered and each scrip number that is sold is assigned to the Scrip User that purchased the scrip or for whom the scrip was purchased.

Do you live in the same household with another scrip user? Or have you shared the cost of a taxi fare with another scrip user?

If your answer is “yes” to any of the two questions above, your taxi will appreciate you even more if you separate and identity your scrips separately. Scrips that do not match the passenger create a bit of confusion and delays the reimbursement to the taxi owner for those unmatched scrips.

You can separate and identify your own scrip by writing your User ID # on the top scrip of each of the scrip booklets as you purchase them or are handing them to the taxi driver. The recently printed scrips have a place where you can enter your User ID# on the side of the scrip that is reserved “For Taxi Use Only”. Enter your User ID# here.

The rest of the lines on this same side are to be filled out later by the Taxi provider. The older scrips do not have a place for you to write your ID # but you can just write your User ID# on the top part of the first scrip of each booklet, on any side.

Holiday Hours

Please NOTE that the Fresno COG office will be closed on Thursday and Friday, December 23rd and 24th and again on the following Thursday and Friday, December 30 and 31, 2021. Also, during the period of December 14, 2021 through January 14, 2022, the staff person that answers Extension 216 will be out of the office. During this period, please select Extension 200 when needing help with Senior Scrip.

The Measure C Senior Scrip Program is operated by the Fresno Council of Governments (Fresno COG) and funded with local transportation funds made available through the extension of Measure C (a voter-approved ½ cent tax on sales). Since 2008, the Senior (Taxi) Scrip Program has been providing transportation for seniors 70 and older living in the Fresno County region, at a 75% discount!
