Mid Year Assessment Info - Please Read
We need our families’ support. We are trying to create a culture of academic excellence at Sennett and to create that culture we need our students to put forth their best effort on all tests. We want our students to embrace the opportunity to individually demonstrate their ability. We need our families to echo the importance of test taking.
With that being said, this coming Wednesday, Thursday and Friday all students will take both their reading and math mid-year assessment. On each of those three days our school will have all school testing time from 8am-9:15am and will run a shortened schedule for the remainder of the day. It is extremely important that your child arrives at school with a charged chromebook.
The reading test is called Achieve Levelset. This test consists of roughly 40 multiple choice comprehension questions. Each multiple choice question is related to a short reading passage. Upon completion of the test the students receive a score that indicates what grade level text they are able to comprehend.
The math test is called iReady Diagnostic. The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your student’s needs. Each item a student sees is individualized based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier questions. Upon completion of the test the students will receive a score that indicates what grade math they are able to complete.

MSCR After School Clubs and Sports Info
Hello MSCR families! My name is DeVonte Robinson, I am the site director and tutor coordinator here at Sennett. We will push out information periodically throughout the year, however we also post updates in the Sennett Newsletter. I am available most of the time via phone 608-204-1948 or email dkrobinson@madison.k12.wi.us
I want to inform MSCR Families that currently MSCR does not offer transportation for after school programming. We are working to get this changed as soon as possible. At this time we ask for parents to pick up scholars at the end of program. The city bus is also an option we strongly recommend. MSCR does provide 2-ride bus passes. Quarter 3 Syllabi
Hi families -
We are excited to be sharing with you our Quarter 3 Syllabi (course plans) for each class.
This is the place where you can find all the big information you might need about your children's classes - expectations, grading systems, standards they are working on, skills they will be practicing, and a general timeline for it all. Hopefully, this will help give you the information you may need to ask pointed questions to your adolescents who may respond to the question, "What did you learn today?" with the answer, "I don't know" or "Nothing."
Teachers have collaborated to break down the learning into chunks that are accessible to your kiddos and outlined the learning plan in a way that families can access. Your students should be able to share their progress toward meeting the standards addressed during the quarter; they work on them every day.
Here's hoping this will help us to continue to build strong connections between home and school and help you feel informed about your children's learning!

Bus/Transportation Information
Transportation to and from school is provided by Madison Metro Transit. Please visit this Metro Transit website for routes specific to Sennett Students (scroll down to the bottom and click on Sennett Middle School)
Families - please be aware, if there is an issue with a Metro Bus (bus breaks down or has a mechanical issue) Metro Transit will always send another bus to the scene to take the kids home. Remind your students they should wait until the new bus arrives. They do not need to walk home. Metro Transit has assured us they send another bus as soon as possible but there may be delays based on bus availability. Thank you
If your student received a EZ Rider bus pass at the beginning of the year and has lost it, please have them report it to the Sennett Main Office and we will work on getting them a new pass.
