Sennett MSCR Information
Hello MSCR families! My name is DeVonte Robinson, I am the site director and tutor coordinator here at Sennett. We will push out information periodically throughout the year, however we also post updates in the Sennett Newsletter. I am available most of the time via phone 608-204-1948 or email dkrobinson@madison.k12.wi.us
I want to inform MSCR Families that currently MSCR does not offer transportation for after school programming. We are still working to get this changed. At this time we ask for parents to pick up scholars at the end of program. The city bus is also an option we strongly recommend. MSCR does provide 2-ride bus passes. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Forward Testing - April 5-28
Dear Sennett Families,
Each year, Wisconsin students in grades 3-8, and 10, participate in the state’s Forward Exam. Schools across the state must select a date from March 20 through April 28, 2023 to give the test. Our school is scheduled to take the Forward Exam on April 5-28, 2023.
The Forward Exam measures knowledge and skills students should have for their grade level. The Exam tests students in the areas of English language arts (ELA); mathematics in grades 3-8; science in grades 4 and 8; and social studies in grades 4, 8, and 10. One or more subtests may be administered daily during our selected time frame. The results of these tests will be used to help school staff make determinations regarding curriculum, placement, and services to best support students.
Student performance on the assessment will not affect their grades. Please encourage students to take the test seriously, do the best they can, get a good night’s rest prior to the exam, and eat breakfast at school (remember, it’s free this year for all students). Students not in school on testing days will be scheduled for a make-up test prior to the close of the testing window.
State assessments, including the Forward Exam, are required by both State (Wis. Stat. § 118.30) and Federal (ESSA-Every Student Succeeds Act) Law. Additionally, the Forward Exam is given in-person, with no virtual/remote options available. Students in Madison Promise will receive additional information about taking the test in-person.
The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has created a Forward Exam Information for Families brochure, which gives more information about the assessment. (Spanish version of brochure; Hmong version of brochure). Additionally, if you have any questions regarding the state assessment system or specific assessments, please contact Tim Peterson, MMSD Director of Assessment, at tpeterson2@madison.k12.wi.us
As always, thank you for your ongoing support and partnership,
Jeffrey Copeland, Ed.D.

MMSD Spring 2023 Vaccine Clinics
MMSD is hosting six vaccine clinics in collaboration with Public Health Madison Dane County (PHMDC) and SSM Health for students, families, and staff! Vaccines required by the WI Student Immunization Law, plus Covid and Flu vaccines will be available at all clinics. For more information and to schedule an appointment, click here.
Wisconsin Student Immunization law requires that all students entering the 7th grade receive a dose of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and acellular pertussis) and meningococcal (MenACWY) vaccines. At the beginning of 7th grade, parents must provide Sennett Middle School with proof of immunization or claim a waiver. This vaccine is available from your child's primary care provider. Please consult with your child's provider before summer to avoid the late summer rush at clinics. If your child is uninsured, has BadgerCare or Medical Assistance, has “major medical insurance” (only covering hospitalization; no preventive care coverage), or is Native American or Alaska Native, vaccines can be received from the local public health department. For more information on Tdap, meningococcal, and other school required vaccines please see: https://www.madison.k12.wi.us/student-staff-support/health-services/immunization-information-and-school-requirements.
Please contact our school nurse, Evan Castillo RN, at (608-204-4034) with any questions.

Want to know more about your student when they're at school?
There is a way to get regular updates about your child!
Infinite Campus is the system that we use to communicate student grades, comments, and attendance. Parents can see each assignment grade and attendance - including tardies, find missing assignment reports and more. Teachers work hard to get assignments and grades updated weekly in Infinite Campus so that parents and students can see regular feedback on the work that students are doing in school. Quarter grades should never be a surprise; use Infinite Campus to check in regularly on your child's progress toward the content standards.
Download the Parent portal app!
You can even set notifications so you get regular information without having to remember to look!
Infinite Campus is also available on the computer. Here is the browser link.

Quarter 4 Syllabus
Hi families -
We are eager to share your students' quarter 4 learning goals. Please take a moment to look at your child's Quarter 4 Syllabi.
Pay particular attention to the quarter standards and ways that students are assessed on those standards. Understanding the targets for learning can help you and your child have conversations about all the fantastic work they do at school. Feel free to reach out with any questions; teacher contact is available on the syllabi or you can email me, Ashley Foxborn, instructional coach, at afahlborn@madison.k12.wi.us.

Bus/Transportation Information
Transportation to and from school is provided by Madison Metro Transit. Please visit this Metro Transit website for routes specific to Sennett Students (scroll down to the bottom and click on Sennett Middle School)
Families - please be aware, if there is an issue with a Metro Bus (bus breaks down or has a mechanical issue) Metro Transit will always send another bus to the scene to take the kids home. Remind your students they should wait until the new bus arrives. They do not need to walk home. Metro Transit has assured us they send another bus as soon as possible but there may be delays based on bus availability. Thank you
