Message from the President
|
Dear Logistics & Supply Chain (LSC) Division Members,
Thank you for your membership and continued support of IISE and the LSC Division. My name is Mike Sherwin, and I am honored to serve as the President of the LSC Division for 2023-2024. I want to thank my predecessor, Hector Vergara, for his leadership in the past year. He did a fantastic job of building on past successes and setting our Division up for success in the future. I certainly have some big shoes to fill, but I look forward to leading the Board this coming year and continuing the momentum.
At the 2023 IISE Annual Conference & Expo (New Orleans, LA), we honored our outgoing Board members Krystel Castillo and Ravi Vengadam and our outgoing student representative, Srinivasan Balan. Thank you all for your service to IISE and the Division! We greatly appreciate it. We also had the opportunity to welcome Taner Cokyasar, Kaushik Narendran, and Tanveer Hossain Bhuiyan as new members of our Board. Welcome to the Board!
At the conference, we also held our annual LSC Town Hall, where we presented the state of the Division and had the opportunity to gather feedback from the membership. That feedback is the foundation for our top priorities in the coming year, including launching the IISE LSC Micro-Credential Program and improving student engagement. Board members are also working on updates to the Body of Knowledge, improving the Division's competitions and awards, and preparing for the 2024 IISE Annual Conference & Expo (Montreal, Quebec, Canada).
I look forward to serving as your President and hope you will consider becoming involved in planned activities. Also, don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or ideas about how we can best serve the LSC Division.
All the best,
Mike Sherwin, Ph.D., P.E.

LSC Micro-Credential Certification Program
|
In May, we provided an update on the IISE LSC Division Supply Chain Micro-Credential Certification Program and planned for it to be available in Summer 2023. While we are still progressing, the launch has been delayed somewhat due to resource constraints. The first module, Introduction to Supply Chain Management, is developed and vetted by IISE. The Forecasting and Inventory Management modules are currently being completed. We plan to launch the first three modules together and, thus, have been delayed somewhat. We aim to have the modules available no later than the end of the 2023 calendar year, if not sooner. To learn more about the Micro-Credential Certification Program, please get in touch with Mike Sherwin (sherwinm@duq.edu).
