Monsoon Mixer Sparks Connections & Community Impact
The Chapter’s annual Monsoon Mixer on August 27 was a resounding success! Nearly 40 PR professionals gathered at Union Public House in Tucson’s vibrant St. Philip’s Plaza to share drinks, appetizers and great conversation. The energy in the room was electric as members reconnected and networked, sparking new ideas and collaborations. A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to our drive for Treasures 4 Teachers of Tucson — we filled an impressive box with school supplies to support local educators. PRSA Southern Arizona Chapter Member Paul O'Rourke, VP of Development and Communications for Intermountain Centers for Human Development, was just named one of the Fundraisers of the Year in the 2024 Raise Awards by OneCause, a leading provider of digital fundraising technology. The award recognizes individuals who live out their organizations' missions, who are dedicated to the donor experience, and who always give 110% to their causes.
O’Rourke’s nomination focused on his work spearheading and project managing Intermountain’s Sensory Park, a 1.5 acres outdoor park designed entirely for the needs of youth on the autism spectrum. A joint project between Intermountain and the City of Tucson, when it officially opens in the fall the Sensory Park is projected to serve more than 1,000 disabled youth and their families each year. His nomination also outlined his work on the recent Intermountain event, Pickle Palooza, which raised more than $100,000 for Intermountain’s workforce development programs serving both disabled youth populations and those in the foster care system.
