Banned Books Week Is September 22-28
Come by the Kaua'i CC Library to check out a book in honor of your freedom to read today! The American Library Association’s (ALA) Banned Books Week brings awareness to the rising number of attempts to ban books in libraries across the country. ALA explains, “By focusing on efforts to remove or restrict access to books, Banned Books Week draws national attention to the harms of censorship….The annual event highlights the value of free and open access to information and brings together the entire book community— librarians, educators, authors, publishers, booksellers, and readers of all types— in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas.” Libraries are committed to everyone’s intellectual freedom and right to read.
