Copper Network Retirement: Old-School Services Come to an End

PRI, T1, and Analog POTS Lines’ Days Are Over.

Verizon’s retirement of legacy copper and TDM services is here. Verizon has stopped accepting new orders for these services, and physical withdrawals are underway. Even worse: CTS clients have reported some legacy-service bills doubling!

Legacy lines support much more than desk phones, including:

  • Fire and burglar alarms, elevator phones, and emergency call boxes

  • Fax, point-of-sale, building systems, and remote monitoring equipment

  • Voice trunks, backup circuits, and 911 or life-safety communications

  • Specialized systems in healthcare, education, government, finance, and property management

So, the big question is whether your organization will transition to IP on its own schedule or react under duress.

Delaying a line and circuit review can mean a forced cutoff, rushed replacements, higher invoices, unsupported equipment, or operational and compliance risks.

Take Control Before the Copper Goes Away

Modern IP-based options can support your voice, connectivity, wireless backup, and specialized analog devices.

Start with an inventory – not assumptions. CTS can identify legacy circuits, confirm what they support, assess risk, and build a staged migration plan aligned with your operations, timeline, and budget.

AI + UC as a Service - Turn Everyday Conversations into Productivity

Bring Calling, Meetings, Messaging, and Practical AI Together – Without Adding More Complexity

AI is moving from standalone experiments into the communications tools your employees already use.

Unified Communications as a Service, or UCaaS, brings calling, video meetings, messaging, files, and collaboration into one cloud-based environment. The right AI capabilities can make those interactions easier to capture, follow up on, and improve.

The useful question is not “Where can we add AI?” It’s “Where can AI remove friction while keeping people in control?” A well-designed UCaaS environment can reduce time spent searching for notes, repeating information, and tracking routine follow-up.

Practical new AI + UCaaS capabilities can include:

  • Meeting and call summaries with decisions, action items, and next steps

  • Real-time transcription and translation for more accessible conversations

  • Intelligent routing and virtual agents for common requests

  • Searchable insights for coaching, quality review, and recurring service issues

  • Workflow connections that turn calls or meetings into tickets and tasks

Put AI to Work Where Teams Connect

CTS is platform-agnostic. We can help you evaluate, design, deploy, and support the UCaaS solution that best fits your organization - whether that means Zoom, RingCentral, Microsoft Teams Phone, or another leading provider.

We start with your people, workflows, existing technology, and business goals. Then we help you apply practical AI and communications capabilities in ways that reduce friction, improve follow-through, and keep your teams in control.

Let’s get started. Call 410.850.4848 or jnolte@ctsmd.us.

Make Your Conference Room Ready for Every Conversation

A conference room should make collaboration easier – not trigger a pre-meeting troubleshooting ritual.

Yet we know many of you still lose time to weak Wi‑Fi, poor camera angles, inaudible participants, echo, cable clutter, and inconsistent connection processes.

Imagine Friction-free Zoom, Teams, or RingCentral Meetings…

CTS delivers Reliable Connections, Quiet Spaces, Clear HD Video and Audio, and Easy Meeting Setups.

For hybrid work, customer meetings, public-sector briefings, training, and board sessions, the room is part of the employee and visitor experience. A professional collaboration environment gives everyone – whether in the room or remote – a fair opportunity to see, hear, and contribute.

CTS designs conference-room environments that combine the technology and infrastructure behind dependable meetings:

  • Right-sized cameras, displays, microphones, speakers, and room controls

  • Cabling, power, network connections, and wireless coverage planned for actual room use

  • Acoustic treatment and sound-masking strategies that reduce echo, noise, and speech-privacy concerns

  • Integration with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, RingCentral, and other proven platforms

  • Consistent experiences across huddle spaces, training rooms, executive rooms, and multipurpose areas

Give Meeting Rooms a Professional Advantage

The goal is not simply more equipment. It is a room people can use confidently: walk in, start the meeting, share content, be heard clearly, and focus on the agenda. Let your local partner, CTS, coordinate the cabling, networking, AV, collaboration technology, and support.

Call 410.850.4848 or jnolte@ctsmd.us to plan your conference-room review.
