Greetings!

Well, August is my birthday month and Richard whisked me away on a surprise concert getaway. He snapped this photo of me just before it started. We had such a blast! Then two weeks later, this past weekend we were in Jackson Hole with a large friend group. (Sharing more details and photos below.)

You will never guess who I ran into there, beautiful and talented artist friend, Dyana Hesson!!

I have to say I am very inspired, paintings swimming in my head after returning from such beautiful country. In between, I painted my second Salt River horses painting, Where the River Nourishes! In addition, a little further down the river we saw a cow on the bank. What a surprise! Yep, you became a painting too, Quiet Waters!

I just learned The Sun Broke Through was juried into the 2025 Best of America International Juried Exhibition at the James R Ross Fine Art Gallery in Indianapolis! See details below.

Tiffany and I also completed our BRAND NEW VIDEO for our Hidden in the Hills Artist Studio Tour, Studio #11. Check it out here and below along with all the show details. I hope you love it and plan your visit now! Each of us artists are hard at work with new creations preparing for your arrival!

NEW PAINTINGS!

Where the River Nourishes, oil, 24x20

2nd painting of the Salt River horse series!

Paddling down the Salt River in my kayak, cool refreshing water splashes gently against my sun warmed skin. Trees sway and the birds call as water laps the shore. At times my adrenaline rises through the rapids, then drops as the river becomes serene once again. It is then I can immerse myself in the scenery around me. Wild mustangs appear grazing along the shore, pausing for a cool drink. What a gift and a delight to my senses.

My mind wanders to the nourishment of the river, a promise teeming with life bringing refreshment, abundance, and hope. River symbolism evokes feelings of tranquility and joy, the presence of God and His continuous flow refreshing our spirits.

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters.” – Psalm 23:2

Where the river flows there is life, may we seek to protect this sanctuary and habitat, including the iconic Salt River wild horses.

Quiet Waters, oil, 16x20

My 3rd piece of the Salt River series

Further down the Salt River adventuring on our kayaks I was surprised to come upon a beautiful cow grazing the water’s edge! Always in search of wild Mustangs and other abundant wildlife seeing a cow along the river was a first. Where did it come from? Did it belong to someone? He seemed so peaceful and content next to serene and quiet waters. His reflection danced in the afternoon light mesmerizing us as we slowly passed by.

Psalm 23 drifted through my mind…the LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.

Upon returning home I researched learning he was a Hereford bull. They came from Herefordshire England in 1817 and were met with great success. “The Hereford cow is unrivaled when it comes to efficiency, docility, longevity and the hardiness to survive in a tough environment,” said Shane Bedwell, American Hereford Association. Females are highly regarded for their maternal qualities.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

Birthday Trip to Salt Lake! Richard surprised me with a wonderful trip to Salt Lake to see Chris Stapleton mid August. We had so much fun! The first night he planned a wine pairing dinner. I tried orange wine for the first time! Then Friday we went to the concert and had the best time.

We were able to squeeze a hike while there (which tougher than expected but we managed)! The scenery was breathtaking and worth every breathless step. It was so nice to have time away together. Being whisked away by my husband is always an adventure!

Then off to Jackson Hole, WY over Labor Day weekend with a group of 16 beautiful friends from our church, just returning at midnight last night, whew! OOH, I have more horse paintings swimming through my mind now! I took some time alone exploring and photographing. I was certainly very inspired, what beautiful country.

COWGIRL UP 2026!

Nothing beats getting the following message, "At the unanimous request of the 2026 Cowgirl Up! Selection Committee, we would like to invite you to participate in our upcoming 21st annual exhibition and sale to be held March 27– May 31, 2026."

I am looking forward to next spring and creating special paintings for this event! Honored to participate once again and be hung amongst such talented women artists! Mark your calendars now to join me! Prepping for this 2026 show by painting horses, other wildlife, and exciting southwest paintings.

Beautiful and talented Tiffany has been such a help to me. We have learned much from each other. She has moved on to concentrate all her time on her own art career. We part as friends and each other's biggest cheerleaders!

Therefore, I am looking for a part time assistant about 15 hours per week. Requirements for the position include proficiency in Google Sheets, Docs, Photoshop, and other general computer skills. Social media and IMovie experience is also a plus. Other responsibilities include lifting boxes and climbing ladders for hanging artwork, managing inventory, errands, helping with client installs, etc. There is also some personal assisting too. Please let me know if anyone comes to mind that is detail oriented, trustworthy, forward thinking, and has a positive attitude. This position doesn't require an artist background, but it certainly helps!

"Narrative scenes brilliantly interpreted by Dickens. These moments and memories are exhilarating to behold." -Informed Collector

"Lucy's realism is not about reproducing a scene, but rather capturing those special moments with all the accompanying magic. In this regard, she has a gift. She is able to reveal spirit and enable viewers to be part of the experience as she makes a special connection with her subject matter and honors its essence. People respond." -Donna Kublin
