Finalists for UH President named, public forums scheduled


The finalists will be introduced to the UH community and general public through a series of open houses (meet and greet opportunities) and public forums (question and answer sessions).


Finalist Dr. Julian Vasquez Heilig will be visiting Kauaʻi Community College on Monday, September 30 at the Fine Arts Auditorium from 2-3 p.m. (Open House), 3-4 p.m. (Campus Forum - zoom option available).

AgXposure Still Accepting Applications!


AgXposure is a month-long course offered by GoFarm Hawai‘i where participants 1) visit a variety of farms on Kaua‘i to get exposure to commercial farms and work on various farm projects, 2) learn about important aspects of farming and get exposure to what life could be like if an agricultural career is pursued, and 3) network with people in agriculture. National Transfer Student Week (NSTW) is celebrated annually during the third week of October (Oct 21-25, 2024). The Kauaʻi Community College Transfer Center is celebrating transfer students and the University of Hawaiʻi campus partners who support them on their journeys with a Transfer Tuesdays event kickoff in the month of October. Keep an eye out for our upcoming Transfer Tuesday events happening in the Learning Resource Center (LRC) Lobby. Come meet and talk with our UH partner campuses - UH Hilo, UH Maui College, UH Mānoa, and UH West Oʻahu - about admissions, their programs, and transfer. Save the Date - Computational Thinking Hui: A collaboration between UHWO and Kaua‘i CC

Monday, October 14

2:30-5:30 p.m. over Zoom (Zoom details will be provided closer to the date)


Two panelists, Kari Noe (UHM Office of Indigenous Knowledge & InnovationLinkedin) and Angela Marquez (U of AZLinkedin) will be sharing how they integrate Indigenous cultural competence and computational thinking skills into their practice and instruction. 


The session will cover their background, defining computational thinking, intersection of culture and technology, challenges and opportunities, community and collaboration, ethics and indigenous data sovereignty, innovative applications, educational pathways and mentorship, looking to the future, personal inspirations and influences, and a call to action.


All instructional faculty can and would benefit from attending as these skills can be integrated into every possible course and program (academic, non-academic, and CTE).

Monsters & Misfits: Queerness in Halloween & Horror

Monday, Oct. 28 at 3 p.m.



Co-sponsored by QUEERIFY, Honolulu Horror Nights, and the Commission on LGBTQ+ Equality, this presentation and discussion will delve into the intersections of queerness and horror, exploring how LGBTQ+ identities are represented in both Halloween culture and horror media. From misunderstood monsters to outcast misfits, the genre has long reflected themes of fear, transformation, and otherness—parallels that resonate deeply with the queer experience.

"Vanishing Voices: Saving our Hawaii Forest Birds," this free documentary showing will be held at Kaua'i CC's Performing Arts Center starting at 6 p.m. It will be followed by and expert panel: Dr. Lisa "Cali" Crampton (KRBRP Project Leader), Justin Hite (DLNR/DOFAW Mosquito Control Project) and Graham Talaber (Naturalist and Photographer).
