The Huntingdon Chamber is once again partnering with the Huntingdon County Planning Commission to recognize the people, businesses, organizations, and projects making a positive impact throughout Huntingdon County.
Projects completed during 2026 are eligible for consideration in this year’s Community Improvement Awards, which will be presented during the Planning Commission’s Annual Dinner on February 25, 2027.
Awards will be presented in four categories:
- New Construction
- Preservation: Historic & Reuse of an Existing Building or Lot
- Community Spirit
- Special Merit
Do you know of a project that deserves recognition? Nominate it! Whether it transformed a space, preserved an important part of our community, brought people together, or went above and beyond, we want to hear about it.
Nominations are due by December 4, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.

Once a nomination is submitted, an application will be sent directly to the nominee to complete the process.

Pennsylvania Business Central will be publishing their annual "Women Making a Difference" edition in October. "Women Making a Difference" is one of Women in Businesses premier recognition programs and one of their most popular editions with their +35,000 readership.
They are eager to identify and honor the most dynamic and inspiring Women Making a Difference across their 23-county area. They believe that highlighting positive stories about central Pennsylvania's best is important and heartening.

It's hard to believe it's already time to begin planning for our Annual Awards Gala! This year's celebration will take place on October 8 at Trophy Mountain Lodge, and we're currently seeking sponsors for our prestigious ATHENA Award and Volunteer of the Year Award.
The internationally recognized ATHENA Award honors an individual who demonstrates professional excellence, community leadership, and a commitment to empowering and mentoring women in their pursuit of leadership and career success. ATHENA sponsors receive recognition in all event publicity, the Awards Gala program, and during the award presentation.
The Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes a Chamber member who has gone above and beyond in service to the Chamber, exemplifying dedication to our mission and supporting our members. The award sponsor will be recognized in all event publicity and the Awards Gala program, have their name featured on the award, and be invited to present the award during the Gala.

Small businesses represent the largest segment by number of most local chamber membership rolls. Results in the research study by The Shapiro Group, Inc. and Market Street indicate the impact of local chamber membership on small businesses is very powerful. If a consumer knows a small business is a member of its local chamber, the business enjoys a 44 percent increase in its consumer favorability rating, a 51 percent increase in consumer awareness, a 57 percent increase in its local reputation and a 63 percent increase in the likelihood that consumers will patronize the business in the future.
Research indicates that chamber membership stimulates business-to-business commerce in the local community. Other businesses in town are more likely to do business with you and your company if you are a member of the local chamber. Because a major part of a small business typically comes from business-to-business services, it is essential to maintain a positive standing within the local business community.
